This is one of the best examples of what John can provide. The story is engaging, rapidly sucking you into the characters. The mythological backdrop is smoothly interwoven into the storyline and provides an impressive level of realism.
Until Cry Havoc released, this was my undisputed favorite on this site. This is the book that I constantly found myself going back to due to the length of the book, variety of scenes, and variety of "victims". Incredible value for the amount of words written and the fantasy setting makes it a must read.
